The Person Behind the Work
I'm Nando Schlecht, a therapist who works with high-functioning adults carrying the weight of complex trauma, dissociation, and often, a difficult relationship with faith or the communities that shaped it.
Much of my work centers on religious trauma and church hurt: the disorientation of losing trust in a community you once belonged to, and the quieter work of rebuilding a spiritual life on your own terms, whatever that ends up looking like. I also work with religious OCD and intrusive-thought patterns, using ERP alongside deeper trauma-focused approaches, because scrupulosity often isn't just an anxiety problem.... it's tangled up with real questions about faith, identity, and safety.
My training includes EMDR, Exposure Response Prevention, Deep Brain Reorienting, and Ego State Therapy, alongside a faith-informed approach for clients who want that lens included rather than set aside. As a veteran, I also bring a particular understanding of structure, discipline, and the cost of holding it together for too long.
I tend to work best with people who are already insightful, already functioning well on the outside, and looking for depth rather than a quick fix, the kind of work that takes real time, and is worth it.
